Food packing has always been crucial for worldwide economic and social progress. The threat of food poisoning from spoiled products is rising daily. To address this, the Biotechnology students' group at IMM Lab has developed a food packaging film that prolongs shelf life. This innovative film is made from agricultural waste using eco-friendly and energy-efficient techniques. Led by student Nguyễn Thị Cẩm Tiên, the research team produces bacterial cellulose (BC) from readily available materials and incorporates silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) derived from agricultural waste to create the food preservation film (Ag NPs@BC).
The student of the bio-materials group of LIMM has participated in some competitions and achieved several awards, including:
1. The 25th Euréka Scientific Research Student Competition in 2023
The Euréka Scientific Research Student Award is a
prestigious award for innovative scientific research projects of Vietnamese
students. This is a measure of training quality, contributing to promoting the
scientific research movement among students. It is a source of motivation,
encouraging students to proactively propose specific ideas, solutions, and new
inventions, and participate in improving the quality of education and training,
thereby contributing to the development of the country.
IMM Lab students received the Consolation Prize at Euréka 2023.
2. Post-Harvest Processing Technology Competition 2023
The Post-Harvest Processing Technology
Competition is open to Vietnamese citizens who have innovative ideas and
groundbreaking products that can be applied to solve existing problems in the
agriculture and food industry.
The Science and Technology Studies Program for Students of the Ho Chi Minh
City University of Science – HCMUS aims to encourage students to excel in
academic activities and scientific research.
